I was told that he location I rented from was not actually a standard budget rental, bu privately owned and operated. After getting the run around for almost a month, finally someone said they would investigate the issue further. I was verbally told by the agent that I was declining. There was general confusion from every customer service agent I talked to because they kept saying I accepted insurance by clicking the option on a screen. I tried contacting Budget on multiple occasions to get this resolved and they said since I signed the waiver there was nothing I could do. I immediately called and was told that the when I initialed next to the "waiver" the desk agent told me would decline all insurance, I was actually initialing to accept insurance liability waiver. The following Tuesday my pending $65 charge posted for $319. This was the initial price I paid for he car so I thought nothing of it. I had a pending charge for budget for $65 on Saturday. This was fair as our flight was delayed so we did turn it in an hour later than agreed upon. Upon returning the car, I was charge $65 for turning the car in late. I verbally reconfirmed with the desk agent that I declined all insurance and was told "yes, you need to initial here to waive insurance." So I did so. I was handed a paper to sign and initial. I talked with the check in desk, declined all insurance, and they took our personal insurance information. I rented a car from this location in June 2023.
